Song Structure: Blocks

Songs are built from blocks. Each block represents a logical section of the song (e.g. Intro, Verse, Chorus, Bridge).

  • A block contains:

    • a fixed number of bars
    • each bar subdivided into beats (e.g. quarter notes in 4/4)
  • Blocks have:

    • distinct colors
    • variable lengths to improve visual orientation

Best practice Split sections generously. Short blocks for small variations greatly improve orientation during playback.

At higher BPM values, blocks can become visually dense.

In the Pro version:

  • Blocks can auto-adjust their width
  • Bars can be shown in a collapsed form
  • During playback, the current bar expands into beats to preserve accurate counting
