Song Structure: Blocks
Songs are built from blocks. Each block represents a logical section of the song (e.g. Intro, Verse, Chorus, Bridge).
Block Characteristics
Section titled “Block Characteristics”-
A block contains:
- a fixed number of bars
- each bar subdivided into beats (e.g. quarter notes in 4/4)
-
Blocks have:
- distinct colors
- variable lengths to improve visual orientation
Best practice Split sections generously. Short blocks for small variations greatly improve orientation during playback.
Block Density & Display (Pro)
Section titled “Block Density & Display (Pro)”At higher BPM values, blocks can become visually dense.
In the Pro version:
- Blocks can auto-adjust their width
- Bars can be shown in a collapsed form
- During playback, the current bar expands into beats to preserve accurate counting
